Reading. The pivotal piece of the educational puzzle. Reading strategies are essential for all content and disciplinary areas of school and in life. Some students seem to master the “Art of Reading” at a young age and make it look easy, while others take more time and struggle to find the ease other students found. This session will focus on a reading approach that will work for ALL students to help give them the tools and practice to be a successful reader. This is not a curriculum, it will work with all types of reading and has a special penchant for non-fiction! The teachers that worked with this in our district, saw an increase of reading confidence and gains for the students. While this can work for subject areas, instructionally it is better instructed during an ELA class. Come see how you can incorporate this approach into your current classroom environment.
